REVO v0.44.0 Update
REVO is now Steam aware, PlayStation controllers are better supported, and the heroic exploits of community bug hunters has led to new victories. VIP Access and the Steam Beta are both alive and kicking, so join in the fun where you like and help with the pre-launch effort (details below). And go wishlist REVO on Steam!
Steam Integration
It took some trial and error, but REVO is now able to respond to the Steam Client. The main feature is its ability to automatically pause combat if you pull up the Steam Community Overlay.
There is only one version of REVO, but if you launch the Steam installed version, you’ll get Steam specific integrations like this as well as some Steam specific information. For example, the title menu and About screen offer slightly different information and link you to Steam specific items in place of things that would otherwise take you out of the Steam ecosystem.
You can get a sneak peek of this Steam integration and help test that it works for every player. Go to the REVO store page on Steam and use the Request Access button to join the limited time beta playtest group. While you’re at it, please wishlist REVO on Steam to boost its popularity which will help others discover the game.
PlayStation Controllers
In an effort to support the most common controller types, REVO now allows you to specify the icon set within the Settings > Controls menu in game, which currently includes PlayStation and Xbox, as well as keyboard.
For those launching the game through Steam, you should be able to enjoy PS3, PS4, and PS5 controller support thanks to Steam Input which magically inserts itself between REVO and your gamepad device to help it work like an Xbox/XInput controller. Those who launch outside Steam will likely have to install and configure a separate, trustworthy middleware to achieve Xbox emulation.
If you experience any big or small problem with your controllers and REVO, be that for personal taste or necessary accessibility, please reach out so I can try to resolve the issue. (Do note that this is not an offer to support any third party software, but I will try to get REVO to play nice with your controller within reason.)
Major Bugs Crushed: 3
Thanks to some solid playtests from a small handful of community members, a couple major bugs that slipped by me were discovered and are now corrected.
More testing is always necessary to prove that it works where fixed and to discover new issues previously undetected. If you like to break stuff, consider joining the bug hunt and become a playtester for REVO. Help make it a better game before launch day arrives, which is coming up fast!
Opportunities to try out the game both on and off Steam are available. Visit the Steam store page to Request Access there or sign up for VIP Access here for a non-Steam edition.
